New primary school classrooms in the pipeline

The ever rising primary school roll is being addressed by building a number of new classrooms in schools across the city.

At the start of the current school year we opened 23 new classrooms and have received positive feedback on these from parents, pupils and staff. For the start of the next school year another 18 classrooms will be built at four primary schools - Broughton, Victoria, St David’s and Craigour Park – and a further six classrooms will be created at Fox Covert, Stockbridge, Flora Stevenson, Bruntsfield and Gylemuir by adapting the existing buildings.

On Monday the winners of the Lord Provost’s Fairtrade Awards were announced at a special ceremony at the city chambers.

The ceremony was all the more special for the musical accompaniment by the Children and Families staff choir, Waverley Voices!
